Pink Floyd: Original Film Sessions - The Wall - 1980 (FLAC)
film_session_front_150
film_session_back_150
January 01, 1980
Early Audio Pre-release Soundboard Mix for the Official Movie
Maxell XLII 100 ??Gen Cassette Masters -> NEC AUK-8000E Deck -> Total Recorder 4.5 -> SB Live 24Bit -> Wav -> Cool Edit Pro 2.0 -> Flac Front End (level 5) -> Flac
I got this in trade with a fellow subscriber of the old Brain Damage Magazine back in 1995. This has a completely different sound then what you are used to. There are some different lyrics and you can hear instruments and sounds in this mix used throughout the recording that were buried in the official release. This is a true gem.
"Pink Floyd's The Wall (1979) stand as one of Pink Floyd's greatest achievements, as well as one of one of the greatest achievements in rock music and live concert production. The album spawned a tour, a film, a book of the film (not quite collectible), and eventually an all-star revival concert in Berlin, and finally in 1999 a double live album.
But before The Wall was a film, a concert, or even an album, The Wall was just an idea... an idea under construction. The Wall went through at least two "demo" stages. The first was a crude recording of Roger Waters strumming his guitar and singing alone. Presented by Waters at the same time as another concept called The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking, Waters' first demo--still uncirculated today-- was deemed unlistenable by the rest of the band, but they felt it had potential. The Hitchhiking demo was set aside, but The Wall was developed further.
Many writing session later, Pink Floyd--probably with assistance from Bob Ezrin--recorded a second, more complete demo. The lyrics were not polished, and neither was the music. Thankfully, lyrics like "I am a physician/who can handle your condition/like a magician" would be entirely discarded and rewritten before the songs were finally committed to tape in a studio. But the rough lyrics and the risky musical experiments which appeared in that second demo had finally made it to the public.
These demo tapes have circulated among just a very few collectors since about 1999. Now it is available for all fans. This recording presents the entire 'work in progress' in the best sonic quality available on CD."
Two songs at the end of CD 2 are filler songs that came on the tape. The first two songs are from an unknown live Roger Waters concert. What I find interesting is that WYWH is a very quiet relaxed version without drums for the most part of the first half of the song. Nice version. Following is Brain Damage/Eclipse from the same live unknown concert date. A VERY bluesy version of Eclipse in which Roger actually asks the audience to sign along during the middle of the song. It then turns into more of a Hard Rock song in the end. Easily my favorite version of the song.

Deep Purple - (1975) Jakarta On My Mind
Live At The Senayan Sports Stadium.
Jakarta, Indonesia, 12/04/75
Audience Recording.
Digitally Remaster Edition
By the time Deep Purple released Burn and Stormbringer (both 1974), Ian Gillan and Roger Glover had already left the band but some fans still considered Burn to be a worthy successor to the earlier albums. But in April 1975, Richie Blackmore too decided to move, leaving Jon Lord (organ, piano) and Ian Paice (drums) from the classic line up. If Blackmore wanted out, vocalist David Coverdale managed to get guitarist Tommy Bolin into the group and Come Taste The Band was released in November 1975.Deep Purple played two dates in Jakarta in December 1975 promoting Come Taste The Band. For the Mat Rockers there, it probably did not matter who was in the line up, it's Deep Purple all the same. But the Indonesian trip was marred by tragedy, as reported in the article, Indonesian Nightmare Strikes Deep Purple, by Peter Crescenti for Rolling Stone magazine (January 29, 1976), Crescenti wrote: "Tragedy and mayhem struck the Deep Purple tour December 4 in Jakarta, Indonesia, when one of the group's road crew, Patsy Collins, a well-loved celebrity of the British rock scene and guitarest Tommy Bolin's bodyguard, was killed in a six-story fall down a service elevator shaft at the band hotel. Then at a Deep Purple concert the following night, Indonesian police armed with machine guns, truncheons and a pack of Doberman pinschers waded into the audience, seriously injuring over 200 people. "Deep Purple played to an estimated 150,000 Indonesians in two shows at the outdoor Senyan Sports Staduim as part of their first tour since adding Bolin to the band. The first concert, which saw about 20,000 people break down fences to join 35,000 ticket holders, was relatively free of police reaction. 'They let everybody be,' keyboard player Jon Lord said. 'There were machine-gun guards all over the place and they were pushing kids around, but there seemed
to be no organized police thing.' "Back at the groups hotel after the opening concert, Collins got into an argument with two other member of the road crew and left their room to go upstairs to his own. The elevators in the hotel were operating slowly, so the impatient Collins decided to walk up the fire escape stairs to the next floor, only to find the door on the next landing locked. Then, inside the stairwell on the sixth floor he found an unmarked, unlocked door. He opened it and hastily stepped in, plunging three-floors down the service elevator shaft, crashing through some hot water pipes? Hospitalized, he died early the next morning from internal injuries and burns. "Surprisingly, the Jakarta police arrested the two crew members Collins had argued with and, later, the bands manager, Rob Cooksey. The three were held on suspicion of murder and isolated from the jails other prisoners for two days, said Cooksey, 'with a kind of threat hangin' over us. All the time we were under suspicion of murder, they were making us sign autographs and things. You just wouldnt believe the mentality.' "The night following the accident, with three of their entourage in jail, Deep Purple played their second show. About 6,000 armed and helmeted policemen, backed by dogs, circulated throughout the stadium. Before the concert began, an announcement warned any Europeans in the audience to congregate near the side of the auditorium. "No sooner did the music begin, getting the rock-starved Indonesians to their feet dancing, then police waded into the crowd, savagely butting, clubbing, punching and kicking the boogieing audience. Then the Dobermans were let loose, joining the attack. Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord later said, 'Every time an effort to get up and boogie was made by any section, it was immediately pounded on.' He also recalled seeing one mammoth dog dragging a kid across the floor by his arm, its teeth sinking into the boys flesh. "The band played only half a set and left the stage frightened and sickened. 'They went crazy,' said Cooksey of the Indonesian police. 'It was like maneuvers for them. Just a nightmare'. To be honest, this mono audience recording from
the first night is rather raw. Some might even call it muddy and it sounds as if the taper is standing somewhere towards the back. While the vocals, guitars and organ are fairly prominent, the drums are buried in the back and, overall, it's closer to a wall of sound with no distinctive soundstage. The band cannot be said to be at its best (there is a workmanlike feel to the performance until the end when the members let loose a little) though the band did try to be friendly by sprinkling in a couple of "Apa khabar?" (How are you?) and "Terima kasih" (thank you). Only Jon Lord, with his extended solos, seemed to be having fun. The set is built around the key songs from Come Taste The Band and if an old chestnut such as Georgia On My Mind is a throwback to the band's blues roots, fans would have preferred the more recognisable hits. Guess Smoke On The Water must have been hard (for this line up) to live up to and Soldier Of Fortune, Lazy and Burn are poor consolations, to say the least. But given the events that would happen later that night and the next day, this recording becomes a historical document to an unhappy and tragic tour that not many younger fans of the and know about. Thanks to zazafromjohor. (Review from retrovinyl)

Fripp and Eno - (1994) The Essential
The musical experiments of King Crimson guitarist, founder Robert Fripp and electronic music pioneer, former Roxy Music member Brian Eno were definitely groundbreaking when they were released in the early to mid '70s. The pair released two albums, 1973's "No Pussyfooting" and 1975's "Evening Star", which paved the way for ambient and so-called 'new age' music.
With the 1994 compilation "The Essential Fripp and Eno", we are offered an excellent sampling of the noise that these two musicians made so long ago. The compilation includes the "No Pussyfooting" album in its entirety plus two tracks from "Evening Star" and the previously unreleased "Healthy Colours Parts 1-4" which was recorded in 1978.
"No Pussyfooting's" "The Heavenly Music Corporation" and "Swastika Girls" consist mostly of Robert Fripp performing fluid sustained guitar lines which are manipulated by Brian Eno using tape machines and a primitive synthesizer. It's beautiful and frantic at the same time.
"Wind on Water" and the title track from "Evening Star" have a more quieter surreal mood to them. "Evening Star" in particular has beautiful melodic parts with simplistic piano and guitar lines.
The unreleased "Healthy Colours" suite is quite different from the previous music made by the duo. Each of the four sections consist of repeated rhythm guitar patterns, a bouncy elementary synthesizer line and various tapeloops of speech all set to a primitive drum machine. This music is quite minimalistic and dry-sounding.
All together, "The Essential Fripp and Eno" covers the basics of what Robert Fripp and Brian Eno did as a musical force. Since they only released two albums together, I personally think that releasing this as a 2-disc set with "Healthy Colours" tacked onto the end would have been a better idea (The lenghty "Index of Metals" from "Evening Star" is an essential piece in my opinion). However, I have no complaints with the way this compilation is put together. The sound quality is stellar on this CD and so is the music. Here's hoping that Robert and Brian will reunite for something new real soon.

herbie hancock - the new standard (1995)mp3 ~ 320kbps ~ cover ~ rs.com ~ 187mb ~ 5% file recoverygenre: jazz / post-bop, hard bop, contemporarytime: 71:42 label: vervethe new standard is a collection of reinterpretations of modern pop songs by nirvana, prince, the beatles, sade and others.cduniverse.com:the voices are instantly recognizable. jack dejohnette's percussive timekeeping has an unmistakable feel to it--full, tight, busy. john scofield's bright and warm guitar always slides right into the groove. and herbie hancock's mastery of the piano--exquisite voicings, inventive lines and precise time--combines with his and bob belden's insightful arrangements. the songs are standards, but not like you've ever heard them before.herbie hancock has truly created the new standard, and it makes perfect sense. one wonders why, in an age of in-ces-t-uous contemporary jazz, no one has successfully mined the wealth of recent american popular music. after all, one of the foundations of jazz itself has been the recycling and reinterpreting of "standards" taken from the great american songbook--tunes by cole porter, the gershwins, rodgers & hart, johnny mercer, et al. these icons were responsible for much of the popularity of jazz in the past. yet one of the problems with jazz today is that most of its listeners weren't even alive when these masters were...allmusic.com n first glance this record would not seem to have much promise from a jazz standpoint. herbie hancock performs a set of tunes which include numbers from the likes of peter gabriel, stevie wonder, sade, paul simon, prince, the beatles ("norwegian wood") and kurt cobain. however by adding vamps, re-harmonizing the chord structures, sometimes quickly discarding the melodies and utilizing an all-star band, hancock was able to transform the potentially unrewarding music into creative jazz. hancock, who sticks to acoustic piano, shows that he is still in prime form, taking quite a few fiery solos. with michael brecker on tenor and surprisingly effective soprano, guitarist john scofield, bassist dave holland, drummer jack dejohnette and percussionist don alias (along with an occasional horn or string section that was dubbed in later), the results are often quite hard-swinging and certainly never predictable. although it is doubtful that any of these songs will ever become a jazz standard, herbie hancock has successfully created a memorable set of "new" music. well worth investigating. personnel:herbie hancock - pianodon alias - percussionoscar brashear - trumpet, flugelhorngene cipriano - oboe, english hornmaurice spears - bass trombonesuzette moriarty - french hornalso: michael brecker, dave holland, jack dejohnette, john scofield, gary herbig, sam riney tracks:1. new york minute - henley, kortchmar, winding 8:33 2. mercy street - gabriel 8:36 3. norwegian wood (this bird has flown) - lennon, mccartney 8:04 4. when can i see you - edmonds 6:15 5. you've got it bad girl - wonder, wright 7:13 6. love is stronger than pride - adu, hale, matthewman 7:57 7. scarborough fair - garfunkel, simon 8:25 8. thieves in the temple - prince 7:30 9. all apologies - cobain 5:04 10. manhattan (island of lights and love) - hancock 4:05part 1part 2. http://rapidshare.com/files/121897866/hh1160ns.part1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/121888041/hh1160ns.part2.rar

Led Zeppelin - The Best Of Led Zeppelin Vol 1 + 2 @320
mp3 @ 320 kb/s
All artwork included
With their first six studio albums not containing a single dud track, trying to neatly assemble a Led Zeppelin 'best of' must have been quite a daunting task. All in all, the folks at Atlantic did an admirable job when the first-ever, single-disc Zeppelin 'best of's' were issued in 1999 (Early Days) and 2000 (Latter Days), covering most of the essentials. For fans that wanted to buy both discs in one shot, both were packaged together in 2002, under the title of Early Days and Latter Days. If you're expecting some bonus bits or anything with the double disc, you'll be disappointed, as it's an exact replica of the single-disc versions. But whether you're a newcomer who wants to get a taste or a longtime who simply wants all the hits in one place, do yourself a favor and spend the extra duckets for the double disc. Even though their latter albums weren't as strong as their earlier ones, they did contain quite a few classics, and only the best tracks of these albums are included here ("Achilles Last Stand," "In the Evening," etc.). As with every compilation, there are going to be a few headscratchers here it's the omission of such gems as "Heartbreaker," "That's the Way," "Over the Hills and Far Away," and "The Ocean," which could have easily replaced such selections as "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You," "The Battle of Evermore," "No Quarter," and "Houses of the Holy." But how can you complain when such ultra classics as "Dazed and Confused," "Whole Lotta Love," "Black Dog," "Rock and Roll," "Stairway to Heaven," "The Song Remains the Same," "Trampled Under Foot," and "Kashmir" are all included? Certainly not little old me.
