A two-CD live collection from a band left splintered by the departure of bassist-songwriter Roger Waters, "Pulse" is perhaps best noted for the blinking red light that was set in its spine upon initial release. It contains the remaining band (with guest musicians) performing the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, the novelty of which wears off soon after the crowd noise interrupts any potential intimacy. The crowd also sings along for several songs, which makes this either a great audio-video document or a misguided attempt at replicating the live experience. The first disc features a healthy portion of material originating after Waters' acrimonious exit from the band. There are two tracks from 1987's "A Momentary Lapse of Region" (Sorrow and Learning to Fly) and five from 1994's "The Division Bell" (What Do You Want from Me, A Great Day for Freedom, High Hopes, Keep Talking, and Coming Back to Life). These are intermixed alongside some older Pink Floyd tracks: Shine on You Crazy Diamond from Wish You Were Here, Astronomy Domine from 1967's The Piper at the Gates, and two classic cuts from "The Wall". Disc Two takes us through a complete version of "Dark Side of the Moon"; the live setting does take something away from the purity and magic of these songs, so your appreciation of the live set may depend upon the depth of your commitment to Pink Floyd itself. Three tracks are added on at the end in the form of musical encores.

Pink Floyd member Richard Wright dies at age 65
LONDON (AP) Richard Wright, a founding member of Pink Floyd, died Monday. He was 65.
The rock group's spokesman, Doug Wright, who's unrelated, said Wright died after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. He said the band member's family did not want to give more details about his death. Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason in college and joined their early band, Sigma 6. Along with the late Syd Barrett, the four formed Pink Floyd in 1965. The group's jazz-infused rock and drug-laced multimedia "happenings" made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene, and their 1967 album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," was a hit. In the early days of Pink Floyd, Wright, along with Barrett, was seen as the group's dominant musical force. The London-born musician and son of a biochemist wrote songs and played the keyboard.
"Rick's keyboards were an integral part of the Pink Floyd sound," said Joe Boyd, a prominent record producer who worked with Pink Floyd early in its career. The band released a series of commercially and critically successful albums including 1973's "The Dark Side of the Moon," which has sold more than 40 million copies. Wright wrote "The Great Gig in the Sky" and "Us and Them" for that album, and worked on the group's epic compositions such as "Atom Heart Mother," "Echoes" and "Shine on You Crazy Diamond." But tensions grew among Waters, Wright and fellow band member David Gilmour. The tensions came to a head during the making of "The Wall" when Waters insisted Wright be fired. As a result, Wright was relegated to the status of session musician on the tour of "The Wall," and did not perform on Pink Floyd's 1983 album, "The Final Cut." Wright formed a new band Zee with Dave Harris from the band Fashion, and released one album, "Identity," with Atlantic Records. Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985 and Wright began recording with Mason and Gilmour again, releasing the albums "The Division Bell" and "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" as Pink Floyd. Wright also released the solo albums "Wet Dream" (1978) and "Broken China" (1996).
In July 2005, Wright, Waters, Mason and Gilmour reunited to perform at the "Live 8" charity concert in London the first time in 25 years they had been onstage together. Wright also worked on Gilmour's solo projects, most recently playing on the 2006 album "On an Island" and the accompanying world tour.
Gilmour paid tribute to Wright on Monday, saying his input was often forgotten. "He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognized Pink Floyd sound," he said. "I have never played with anyone quite like him."

Wet Dream was the first solo album from Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, released in 1978. The album went virtually unnoticed at the time. Wet Dream was self-produced and Wright wrote all the songs himself, except "Against The Odds," which was co-written with his then-wife, Juliette. For his album, Wright assembled some of the backing musicians who had been accompanying Pink Floyd for years, in particular reed player Mel Collins and guitarist Snowy White. So, it was no surprise that the resulting record, Wet Dream, sounded like outtakes from Pink Floyd sessions. Wright's keyboards had always been a major element in the Pink Floyd sound, and his singing and songwriting had also been a big part of the group's music, despite the increasing domination of Roger Waters. On Wet Dream, he was interested in providing typically slow, contemplative, keyboard-based arrangements and singing (on about every other tune) in a becalmed, echoey voice of marital discord and escape. Wright's conflict with Waters shortly would lead to his being dismissed from Pink Floyd (and then, bizarrely, hired back as a sideman), and in a sense his release of Wet Dream could be seen as an attempt to step out on his own. But the material, while pleasant enough, seemed more like music he might have written to work on with Pink Floyd if he still had as much input into the group as he had had back around the time of The Dark Side of the Moon, rather than like an independent solo statement. It was hard to imagine anyone but Pink Floyd fans wanting to listen to such an album, and as it turned out not even enough of them cared, since the album sold poorly.

"Identity" is the only album by Zee, a short-lived partnership consisting of Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright and Dave Harris of New Romantic outfit Fashion. Released in 1984, Wright has stated that he feels "Identity" was an experiment that should never have been released. The album was written and produced by Wright and Harris and all the lyrics were penned by Harris. The album makes heavy use of the Fairlight CMI, a musical synthesizer popularized in the 1980s. This creates a very electronic sound that persists through every track.

Carlos comes together with his brother Jorge and their nephew Carlos Hernandez to tear it up family-style on their monster guitar opus, "Brothers". Released on Carlos's Guts & Grace imprint, "Brothers" is a relentlessly fiery barrage of hard, prog-guitar textures and grooves. Several of the cuts were co-written by Jorge, who is a prodigious guitarist-composer in his own right. For a rare and exciting change, the elder Carlos of the ensemble tries his hand on the drums (overdubbed), upping the ante on the thunderous "Transmutation/Industrial," which features all three six-stringers with their amps cranked to 11. The three again duel it out on the frantic, two-toned "The Trip," which affords a fun look at where their personal styles meet and diverge. "Thoughts" is a brisk metallic-melodic jaunt a la Steve Vai, penned by and featuring nephew Carlos on guitar with spare backup from the band's rhythm section. Jorge's gentle and lonely solo treatment of the misty instrumental "Morning in Marin" evokes the spirit of Stevie Ray Vaughan, or perhaps the young Ritchie Valens on "Sleepwalking." "Luz Amor Y Vida" was nominated for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in the 37th Annual Grammy Awards.

"Van Halen II" is the second album by American hard rock band Van Halen, released in 1979. The actual recording of the album took place less than a year after the release of the eponymous "I" album. Many of the songs on this album have been known to exist prior to the release of the first album, and are present (in various forms) on the demos recorded in 1975 by Gene Simmons and 1977 by Ted Templemann, including an early version of "Beautiful Girls" (then known as "Bring on the Girls") and "Somebody Get Me a Doctor." (The album version is only slightly different than the demo versions.) The black and yellow guitar on the back of the album is buried with Dimebag Darrell. Eddie Van Halen placed it in his casket at his funeral because Dimebag had said it was his favorite.[1] However, Eddie himself stated in interviews that the guitar itself was not actually used on the Van Halen II album; as it had only been completed just in time for the photo shoots for the second album. David Lee Roth is shown in a cast in the inner liner notes, as he allegedly broke his heel making the leap on the back cover.

WISHBONE ASH
Its a milestone year for Wishbone Ash as they tear up the highway and cut loose in the studio. In 2008, British twin-lead guitar band Wishbone Ash celebrates 39 years of rock n roll in true Ash fashion: touring, touring and more touring in Turkey, Germany, Holland the United States, the United Kingdom and France. Plans are also under way to record a new studio album and to release a live CD.
Wishbone Ash can trace its origins back to Torquay, Devon, England, a seaside resort in the southwest of the country. It was here that Martin Turner and Steve Upton first performed together; Turner on bass, Upton on drums, before moving to London in 1969 to seek fame and fortune. It was in the capital that the decision was made to place an advert for a keyboard player and a lead guitarist. The resulting audition threw up 2 guitar leads but nobody could decide who to choose and the trademark twin lead sound of Wishbone Ash was born. Ted (David) Turner and Andy Powell soon went through the poverty and growing pains of a new band but were fortunate that Miles Copeland was championing their cause and a fairly rapid progression was achieved. The first Album - Wishbone Ash was released in Dec 1970 and their second - Pilgrimage surfaced just 6 months later to reach no 6 in the NME charts. Great things were just 11 months away with the release of Argus - possibly the bands best album - certainly their most commercially successful - reached number 2 in the UK charts and went gold. The next album Wishbone 4, again only 12 months on, went silver.

W marcu 1976r. Deep Purple zagrali swój ostatni w latach 70. koncert (w Liverpoolu) i przeszli do legendy rock'n'rolla. Fani do dziś spierają się, czy ówczesny skład zespołu (Mk 4) mógł nawiązać do wielkich tradycji poprzedników, a David Coverdale i Jon Lord dzielnie bronią prób kontynuowania działalności z Tommym Bolinem. Wspominają przy tym o niesamowitej atmosferze, która towarzyszyła próbom do albumu "Come Taste The Band". Problem polegał na tym, że materiał nie zachował się dla potomności. A przynajmniej tak myślano...
W 1975r. Robert Simon (alias Captain California) po kilkunastu latach spędzonych w trasie jako akustyk zamienił stare studio w Hollywood na profesjonalną salę prób. Znaną jako Pirate Sound Studio. Zespoły mogły tam montować pełną scenę i światła i spokojnie odbywać próby lub jamować. Robert dbał o brzmienie Deep Purple podczas kilku tras, więc kiedy zespół zakończył koncerty w 1975r. zarezerwował Pirate Sound Studio, by tam przegrupować siły i zastanowić się nad następcą dla Ritchiego Blackmore'a. Wybór padł na Tommy'ego Bolina, z którym zaczęli pisać i próbować utwory na nową płytę. Od czas do czasu na prośbę muzyków siedzący przy konsolecie Robert włączał taśmę. Część z tych nagrań zachowała się, lecz leżała w zapomnieniu przez dwadzieścia lat.
Z nich właśnie wybrano materiał zamieszczony na "Days May Come". Usłyszeć tu można wczesne wersje utworów, które trafiły potem na album "Come Taste The Band", potężne jamy oraz niezwykłą wersję piosenki z repertuaru duetu Sonny & Cher. Wydanie specjalne uzupełniono o pół godziny nagrań dostępnych wcześniej tylko za pośrednictwem mailorder.
