SEX PISTOLS

Grupa działała w latach 1975-1978. Choć istniała zaledwie 26 miesięcy, przeszła do historii jako jedna z najbardziej wpływowych grup punkowych. Muzyka grupy, ekstremalnie hałaśliwa, prosta w swej strukturze i niedbała w wykonaniu, zdefiniowała gatunek punk, a sam zespół jako zjawisko kulturowe.

Grupa nagrała tylko jeden album (reszta powstała po upadku zespołu remiksy i nagrania z koncertów), Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols, z którego pochodzi kilka przebojów. Do najważniejszych z nich należy Anarchy in the UK, który stał się hymnem pokolenia punk.

Podczas srebrnego jubileuszu królowej Elżbiety II zespół wydał obrazoburczą piosenkę o tym samym tytule, co hymn Wielkiej Brytanii: God Save the Queen. Zamierzał odtworzyć ją na statku na Tamizie, przepływając przed Pałacem Westminsterskim, jednak do tego nie doszło, ponieważ zespół został aresztowany przez policję. W refrenie piosenki powtarzana jest fraza No future for me, no future for you (Nie ma przyszłości dla mnie, nie ma przyszłości dla ciebie). Wokalista grupy i autor tekstu, Johnny Rotten, zapytany w dwadzieścia lat później w telewizyjnym wywiadzie, którego udzielał w swojej luksusowej rezydencji, jak należy interpretować jego tekst wobec luksusu, jakim się otacza, odpowiedział, że jego słowa zostały źle zinterpretowane. Twierdził, że chodziło mu o to, że tej przyszłości nie będzie, jeśli zainteresowany nie weźmie jej w swoje ręce.

W dwadzieścia lat po pierwszym, krótkim okresie działalności zespołu, nastąpił jego powrót. Muzyka zespołu trafiła jednak w próżnię. Trasa koncertowa cieszyła się zaledwie średnim zainteresowaniem.

24 lutego 2006 Sex Pistols zostało wprowadzone do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; zespół odmówił jednak wzięcia udziału w ceremonii.

Po raz pierwszy w Polsce Sex Pistols wystąpił w 2008 roku na Heineken Open'er Festival w Gdyni.

Ozzy Osbourne finds a permanent replacement for Randy Rhoads in Jake E. Lee, a more standard metal guitarist without Rhoads' neo-classical compositional ability or stylistic flair. Still, Osbourne and his band turn in a competent, workmanlike set of heavy metal featuring the crunching title track, whose video (featuring Osbourne dressed as a werewolf) became popular on MTV. Unfortunately, substance abuse problems would prevent Osbourne from releasing another record up to the standards of Bark at the Moon for nearly the rest of the decade.

Rick Hayward had been in The Accent (when he was known as Rick Birkett), who'd produced a stunning 45 which is now sought-after by collectors of psychedelia. His solo album was released on the very collectable Blue Horizon label. Prior to recording this album he'd done the guitar honours on Christine Perfect's 1970 album for Blue Horizon. These two rarities will appeal to very different collectors.

A beautiful solo debut from Rick Hayward -- a guitarist who'd played on numerous blues and rock sessions for the Blue Horizon label as a session musician, but who steps out here with a gently folksy voice of his own! The set's almost all acoustic -- and features Rick on sitar, mandolin, bass, bongos, and a bit of drums as well -- sometimes instrumental, with a lyrically jazzy inflection to his sound -- sometimes with a bit of vocals, which have a fragile quality that's quite different than Hayward's more confident guitar. The guitar carries echoes of late 60s British folk -- particularly Bert Jansch -- but there's surprisingly jazzy changes that continue to keep things interesting.
Titles include "Wheels Within Wheels", "Weasel", "Neptune", "Can't See Any Sign", "Lament F'Yorke", "Light In The Sky", "Dance Of The Sour Grape Fairy", "Mongrel", and "Find Yourself Sometime". CD also features a full bonus second album of songs -- 11 more tracks that were intended as Rick's next record, but issued here for the first time! These extra tracks are every bit as beautiful as the first -- and make the album a real treasure at this price.
