L.A. Woman is The Doors' sixth and last album recorded with lead singer Jim Morrison. Morrison died later that year in July 1971. The album's style is arguably the most hard rock blues-like of the band's catalogue. Following the departure of their record producer Paul A. Rothchild around November 1970, the Doors and engineer Bruce Botnick began production on the album at The Doors Workshop in Los Angeles. Most of the tracks were recorded live, except for a few overdubbed keyboard parts by Ray Manzarek. Session musicians Jerry Scheff and Marc Benno entered the studio in January 1971 to put some finishing touches. It is the only Jim Morrison-era studio album which the Doors did not follow up with a concert tour; Jim had moved to Paris by the time it was released in May 1971 and died two months later on July 3, 1971.
Botnick produced and mixed a new 5.1 Surround version of the album, which was released on DVD-Audio, December 19, 2000. It was produced from the original 8 track analog 1" master tapes.[1]
In 2003, the album was ranked number 362 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
A new version of the album, titled L.A. Woman (40th Anniversary Mixes) was released on March 27, 2007 on Rhino records. It contains two bonus tracks: "Orange County Suite" and the Willie Dixon-authored "(You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further". The latter track features Manzarek on vocals. The track "Orange County Suite" was not recorded with the other tracks on the album, the song is originally a Morrison solo vocal and piano recording with music later overdubbed by the surviving Doors.

Paranoid refined Black Sabbath's signature sound -- crushingly loud, minor-key dirges loosely based on heavy blues-rock -- and applied it to a newly consistent set of songs with utterly memorable riffs, most of which now rank as all-time metal classics. Where the extended, multi-sectioned songs on the debut sometimes felt like aimless jams, their counterparts on Paranoid have been given focus and direction, lending an epic drama to now-standards like "War Pigs" and "Iron Man" (which sports one of the most immediately identifiable riffs in metal history). The subject matter is unrelentingly, obsessively dark, covering both supernatural/sci-fi horrors and the real-life traumas of death, war, nuclear annihilation, mental illness, drug hallucinations, and narcotic abuse. Yet Sabbath makes it totally convincing, thanks to the crawling, muddled bleakness and bad-trip depression evoked so frighteningly well by their music. Even the qualities that made critics deplore the album (and the group) for years increase the overall effect -- the technical simplicity of Ozzy Osbourne's vocals and Tony Iommi's lead guitar vocabulary; the spots when the lyrics sink into melodrama or awkwardness; the lack of subtlety and the infrequent dynamic contrast. AC/DC's hot streak began to draw to a close with For Those About to Rock We Salute You. While Back in Black was infused with the energy and spirit of paying tribute to Bon Scott, it became apparent on the follow-up that the group really did miss Scott more than it initially indicated. Brian Johnson's lyrics started to seem more calculated and a bit clichéd, lacking Scott's devil-may-care sense of humor. And the band itself slowed down the tempo frequently, sounding less aggressive and inspired. Asia - brytyjska supergrupa rockowa założona w 1981 przez kilku weteranów progresywnego rocka - Steve'a Howe'a (Yes), Carla Palmera (ELP) i Johna Wettona (King Crimson) oraz popowego instrumentalistę, Geoffreya Downesa. Wbrew oczekiwaniom, nie stworzyła ona neo-progresywnej muzyki, lecz typowy dla lat osiemdziesiątych, zorientowany na pop, rock albumowy. Charakterystyczne dla muzyki grupy były starannie zagrane przebojowe piosenki rockowe, z których do najbardziej znanych należały Heat of the Moment, Don't Cry i The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. Grupa rozwiązała się w roku 1985, po nagraniu trzeciego, słabo się sprzedającego, albumu. W 1990 reaktywowała się. Choć już w zmienionym składzie, zdołała zachować spójność stylistyczną.
